About Nick Torrance

Founder & Physiotherapist – Beyond Balance Physio, Parnell

Nick has spent the majority of his Physiotherapy career in London and Sydney, where he owned and operated Balance in Motion Physio & Pilates in Sydney CBD and Bondi for over 15 years which are still thriving. Nick returned home to New Zealand to raise his three children on Waiheke Island.

He now owns Connect Studio Physio & Pilates on Waiheke and has come full circle by returning to work part-time in Parnell—the same area his father and grandfather lived, and where he went to school locally at Auckland Grammar.

Over the past 25 years, Nick has immersed himself in advanced physiotherapy education and clinical practice. He has:

Taught ConnectTherapy® and the Thoracic Ring Approach for the past decade assisting with his mentor Dr LJ Lee
Taught foot & ankle and lower-limb rehabilitation to Physiotherapists around the world
Mentored dozens of young physiotherapists to help them reach their next professional level
Supported clinic owners through leadership and business mentoring

After receiving every certificate at school for showing compassion for others and helping people it became pretty obvious that Physio was his calling. To put it simply Nick is a helper. He loves helping people solve problems and come out the other side better than ever.

High-Performance Experience

Nick has worked extensively with elite triathletes, gold medal Olympians, Wimbledon finalists, Ironman winners, and high-level athletes across Australia and New Zealand.

He blends this high-performance understanding with a deeply personalised, patient-focused approach.

A Bit More About Nick

Outside the clinic, Nick is:

A long-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt (he’ll tell you he’s trying to break the record for the longest time without a belt promotion)
A keen tennis player
The rugby coach for his son’s team on Waiheke
A dad who spends as much time as possible with his three kids, Katie, his dog Coco, cat Meepy and horse (daughters) Jinks
